GOTS-LABEL:

Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is an international standard for organic clothing and textiles.

The GOTS label consists of 100% organic raw materials and clothing and textiles with this label must consist of at least 70% organic fibres. The percentage is stated on the label.

The strict standard for organic textiles is met throughout the entire chain - from harvesting the raw materials, via socially responsible production to labelling, packaging and distribution. This worldwide standard provides for, among other things, the use of environmentally friendly chemicals and water purification in the factories.

The GOTS certification also requires compliance with social criteria in cotton cultivation and processing into fabric. This concerns matters such as minimum wages, a ban on child labor and a safe and hygienic working environment

For centuries, European companies, and later companies from the United States, made farmers from Asia and Africa work very hard to grow certain products (such as cotton). When the Fairtrade Cotton quality mark is on clothing or other cotton products, this indicates that the cotton used in the product has been grown according to strict sustainability requirements.
